The holiday season is in full swing. My work is in full event mode, with many events happening over the past week. During off hours, I’ve been visiting the seasonal craft fairs and makers events that are popping up all around. Visited a few inspirational crafts as the Patchwork Show in Jack London Square.

Peace in many languages.

Nontraditional quilting projects.

While in the area, I stopped by the oldest bar in Oakland — Heinold’s First and Last Chance Saloon. Claims to have been established in 1883. Ducking in here was literally that — ducking. The floor is actually below the entrance doorway, and the inside flooring is totally off kilter. Learned later that apparently it’s uneven inside due to the 1906 San Francisco earthquake, when some of the ground in the area sunk.

Last Thursday was Thanksgiving here in the US. I celebrated the holiday with family, delicious food, and many festive colors.

Northern California really does know how to turn on the autumn vibes.

Loved this old truck parked in the neighborhood. Now that’s a stylish ride.

And what holiday would be complete without an adorable pup and perfect sunset.

During Thanksgiving, I mentioned that I had never seen The Godfather movies. My family was appropriately horrified at my lack of Culture — yes, with a capital “C.”

Three days later, we’ve watched parts I and II, with III waiting around the corner…whoever said nine hours of mafia movies wasn’t a worthwhile investment? If “Leave the gun, take the cannoli” isn’t a life motto, I just don’t know what is.
