A few days later, it’s more like Merry ChristPAST, am I right? Now with actual photos from Christmas Eve and Day.

Knowing that we would be in Israel for the holidays, we pondered how best to spend our Christmas days. We eventually decided to go back to where it all began…a manger.

Kidding. But we did go to Bethlehem for Christmas Eve. It felt like being at a carnival — full of celebratory crowds, facepainting clowns, swarms of kids with balloons, and Christmas jingles in Arabic playing over the loud speakers.

Needless to say, we didn’t last long in the crowds. Away from the huge groups of people, Bethlehem and Jerusalem were charming.

Of course, we found “Star B” aka the only “Starbucks” in Bethlehem.

Away from the Christmas Day celebrations, the usual market was in full swing. Olives, and spices, and desserts — oh my!

Found this cutie parked down one of the quiet streets.

Toys and local gaming.

In Jerusalem, we found a staircase that led up to the rooftops and did a self-guided rooftop tour.

Inside the Church of the Holy Sepulcher, busy and reverent on Christmas Day.

A final view looking out at Jerusalem.

One more round of photos are coming soon. We’re flying back to Germany this evening, just in time to ring in the new year. Happy New Years, and see you all in 2017!
