This past weekend, San Francisco celebrated the Lunar New Year with a parade and festival. The city blocks were adorned with tons of lanterns and decorations for the new year.

These dragons roamed the streets of Chinatown, accompanied by very enthusiastic (aka audible from blocks away) cymbal players. During their tour, the dragons visited several of stores and went inside…even tiny shops where the costumes barely fit.

Case in point — at this boba tea shop, the three dragons somehow squeezed inside but had to back out the same way they came in…there just wasn’t enough room to turn around inside the shop.

The zodiac animal for this year is the dog, and I did Very Extensive (…aka a very small amount, kinda not much at all) internet research to determine some facts for the year. Of interest: dogs are loyal, hardworking, and honest. Which seems all well and good for all you dog years out there, buuuut don’t pat yourselves on the back quite yet. It turns out that dog years should hold off on celebrating until next year at least…the year of your zodiac sign is apparently “the most unlucky year with trouble and danger lurking at every corner.” *

* At least according to the reputable fountain of knowledge “chinesenewyear2018.com.”

In summary — congrats on being honest and popular, dog people! Now stay on your toes until next year.
